Otumoetai Swimming Club

Since its formation in 1969, The Otumoetai Swimming Club (OSC) has been at the forefront of providing invaluable aquatic services to the wider Otumoetai community. OSC has progressed to be one of the largest providers of swimming services from learn to swim through to competitive swimmers in the Tauranga and Bay of Plenty regions with over 400 members swimming throughout the year long season.

OSC prides itself in providing nationally recognised learn to swim programmes which are designed to provide a seamless and successful transition to squad training. From Mini squad, alternate pathways for competitive swimming and for leisure and fitness based swimming have been implemented.

OSC is a competitive club where all members are encouraged to compete at frequent club nights, club champs and carnivals at a local, regional and national level.

Working for the club is an extremely active and dedicated committee who maintain all club affairs along with reviews of current activities and the introduction of new initiatives.

The swim programmes are overseen by the club’s full time head coach, Hugh Dokter who along with Sean Fullick is directly responsible for coaching Development, Junior Regional, Senior Regional and National Squads. All squads swim all year round, including School Holidays.

The Club has a dedicated group of Qualified Coaches involved with our Learn to Swim (LTS) programmes which are lead by Vicki Dokter. LTS lessons are run on a school term basis. The children are assessed regularly and advance to the next level once they have shown they are capable of mastering the skills required in their current level.

The Club also has an Aqua Fit Squad which is coached by Paul Braddock. This squad is designed for those swimmers training for other aquatic related sports as well as general fitness for all land based sports.
